The Fishermen Golf team continue to prove their strength as they clutch three wins back to back against Rockport, Peabody, and Swampscott, advancing their record to 6-2.
Starting Tuesday, Gloucester played Rockport at Bass Rocks for a challenging out-of-conference matchup. Prior to the match, Rockport had been dominating over their opponents with a record of 5-1.
Will Linn and Trevor D’Annolfo led the Fishermen to victory with two four-over-par rounds of 38. Seven out of eight Fishermen won their matches in a sound 42-30 victory.
Following the massive victory, the Fishermen faced the Tanners at the challenging Peabody Meadows golf course.
Captain Adam Conigliari led the way with a decisive 7.5-1.5 win, and the low of the day for the Fishermen with an impressive two over par 38. Will Linn also had a strong performance with a five-over-par 41. Seven out of eight fishermen won their matches, leading to a final score of 54-18.
On Thursday, the Fishermen battled Swampscott at the challenging Tedesco Golf Club. Historically, Tedesco has been a tough venue for the squad, being the site of their only in-conference loss this season. Despite that, the team battled to a close 40.5 – 30.5 victory.
“The boys came into Tedesco with the mindset of revenge,” Senior Lukas Albano said. “We all wanted to improve from the last round and the loss, and we did just that today. It was a huge win.”
Six out of eight Fishermen won their matches. Solid rounds from Ethan Refalo, Will Linn, and Trevor D’Annolfo, all shooting a +6 40.
With a sweep this week, the Fishermen move to 6-2 on the season. Next week is pivotal; the boys will be facing division rival Winthrop away and a challenging Masco squad at home.
