The GHS Girls Tennis team got its first win of the season yesterday against Rockport, with a final score of 4-1. After losing to Ipswich in the first match of the season, the girls were striving for success.
Sophomore Meghan Buckley had a strong victory in first singles, with final scores of 6-4 and 6-4.
Junior Ava Vidal had a close match in second singles, but ultimately lost 5-7 in the first set, and 0-6 in the second set.
Freshman Iylan Mione played an impressive match in third singles that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Mione won the first set 6-2, but lost the next one 5-7. In the third set, Mione took the win with the close score of 7-6.
Senior captains Esme Sarrouf and Keira O’Brien won their match in first doubles with scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
In second doubles, senior Delilah Davis and junior Kashvi Patel managed to win both sets with scores of 6-3 and 7-5.
The team is scheduled to play Lowell Catholic tomorrow on the road, as the match was rescheduled due to rain.
