Gloucester Swim and Dive beats Swampscott

Gloucester and Swampscott swimmers compete in a freestyle event.

The GHS Swim and Dive team dove into its second meet of the season this past Thursday against Swampscott, winning 92-83. 

After their narrow loss against Masconomet the week prior, Gloucester was striving for victory. The heat sheet put many swimmers in unfamiliar events, but the team still found success.

Senior Captain Susie Low was a key component to the team’s success. Low placed first in the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. Junior Joseph Porcello was also a stand out swimmer during the meet, placing first in the 50 freestyle.

Anna Patrick, Amos Telep, Joseph Porcello, and Henry Siezdik got first place in the 400 freestyle relay as a team.

Eighth grader Francesca Goddess made her diving debut and got first place in the event. 

The teams next meet will be against Salem on January 6th, at the Cape Ann YMCA.
