In a challenging week for the Fishermen golf team, they emerged 1-1, moving their record on the season to a respectable 7-3. On Monday, the boys traveled to Winthrop and emerged victorious. On Thursday, they fell to the NEC favorite Masco squad.
On Monday, the team found themselves at the challenging target golf-oriented Winthrop Golf Club. In a nail-biting finish, the Fishermen secured a win 36.5-35.5, securing their spot at the top of the NEC Small.
Thursday, the team found themselves at home facing the very strong Masco Golf Team. Unfortunately, six out of eight players lost their matches, resulting in a devastating 29.5-42.5 loss.
“We didn’t do very well.” Senior Ethan Refalo said. “It was a disappointing loss but we knew it would be a tough match. We’re looking forward to doing better next week.”
One player who had a notable week was Senior Lukas Albano. During the Winthrop game, he was forced into a playoff hole for the win and hit an impressive six-foot par putt to secure the victory for the Fishermen. Albano had another notable performance, shooting an impressive even par 34, securing himself a 7-2 win and being one of the two fishermen to triumph over their opponents.
The boys look to bounce back next week as they hit the road to play some challenging teams. They face Salem, Saugus, Manchester-Essex, and Bishop Fenwick, all away from home.
