Colby Jewell becomes 15th member of GHS Hockey’s 100 Point Club

Colby Jewell is the 15th GHS player in GHS history to reach the 100 Point Club.

Colby Jewell, one of the Assistant Captains of the GHS Hockey team, has recently become the 15th member of the 100 Point Club.

Jewell reached this accomplishment in Gloucester’s game against the Winthrop Vikings on a power play assist. Despite this, the team lost to the Vikings 3-5 in Winthrop’s home rink. The forward captain is the 2nd player this year to reach the coveted club, with Jewell’s linemate and co-captain Brett Cunningham reaching it earlier this season.

Jewell, along with Cunningham, has led the Fishermen offensively for a combined 23 goals throughout their past 11 games. Jewell sits at 11 goals and 12 assists this season as Cunningham has scored 12 goals and 13 assists. The pair have been leading the Fishermen, proving to be a vigilant first line who prove lethal to their opponents.

“Reaching 100 points is an amazing goal to reach, but I couldn’t have done it alone,” Jewell said. “I couldn’t have done it without my coaches and teammates along the way.”

The Fishermen have faced some struggles the past few games, currently sitting on a 4 game losing streak. The past 3 losses have been on the road, making the Fishermen 0-3 out of their own stadium. Only 2 losses have been at home, coming from their loss in their home opener to Concord-Carlisle and their last home game against Masconomet.

In the recent power ranking, Gloucester is ranked 8th out of 40th. They dropped 3 places after their loss against Woburn, but still maintain a high and promising place in the ranks. Despite the hardships the team has faced the past few games, Jewell and the team hope to put on a big show against the rival Falcons this Saturday at 6 pm.
