Chieftains fail to take down undefeated Fishermen

The Masconomet Chieftans fell to their knees in the presence of the GHS girls hockey team, with Gloucester winning 4-1.

Abby Lowthers (2), Keagan Jewell, and Lily Pregent scored goals for the Fishermen.

The game was started by the Fishermen, but Masco was quick to get back up and tie the game up. Halia Taylor contributed to the Fishermen’s forechecking and overall dominated the game. Jenna Connelly had consistent carries down the ice. Jewell had strong shots on the net, where the team outshot their opponents 27-15. Kaydin Cusumano was key for the Fishermen’s win, being a blocking machine in the net per usual.

While the Fishermen knocked the Chieftans down to 3-1, the girls are still hot with an undefeated 4-0 streak. The girls are now focusing on their next big opponent, Peabody. Gloucester and Peabody go head-to-head this Friday at McVann O’Keefe Memorial Rink, which is a must-watch game between the two powerhouse teams.
