On Monday, the girls soccer team celebrated senior night with a game against the Saugus Sachems, which unfortunately for Gloucester fans, ended in a 7-2 loss for the Fishermen.

Saugus played aggressively early on, with a goal in the first five minutes of the game. The Sachems went on to dominate the rest of the half, scoring four more goals and giving themselves a significant lead going into halftime.

In celebration of senior night, Morgan Pennimpede, regularly a defender, got her chance to shine on offense with a goal in the second half. However, Saugus quickly followed suit with their two final goals of the night, sealing the deal for their victory. Still, Gloucester fans were ecstatic when junior Taiya Mano scored off an assist from junior Skye Ciolino.

Despite the rainy weather, friends and parents alike flooded the stands to watch the game and support the senior players, which this year includes captains Morgan Pennimpede, Abby Stauffer and Gabriella Bottari, as well as Seville Tran-Harrison.

Although Monday’s game marked the end of the regular season, the Fishermen will be hitting the field again after qualifying for playoffs for the first time in 6 years. The schedule for playoffs will be released November 1st, so if you are a Fisherman fan, stay tuned.
