This week, the GHS theater will bring their production of “Rock of Ages: Teen Edition” to the stage.
The show soundtrack is entirely composed of popular 80s songs from famous bands, such as Styx, Bon Jovi, Whitesnakes. Some of the most notable songs are “Any Way You Want It,” ”Every Rose Has Its Thorns,” “The Final Countdown,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
The story, set in the 80’s, follows Drew Boley (Sean Buckley), a young, aspiring musician on the Sunset Strip who just wants to rock, but is stuck cleaning toilets at the Bourbon Room. He quickly falls for Sherrie Christian (Scarlett Berge), a smalltown girl with big dreams, but when a big time rock star comes into town, their relationship is put to the test. As the story progresses, Drew and Sherrie find their way back to each other and realize that dreams can change.

The original musical first took the stage in 2006, and was later adapted into a movie musical in 2012. Auditions were held back in December, and the cast and crew have been working hard since then to get this show ready for the stage.
Many students have also taken on production team roles alongside acting. Senior Phoebe Hone is both a member of the cast, as well as co-head of costumes, hair, and makeup.
“I love the look of the 80’s,” Hone said “you really get the best of both worlds and see your designs bring the world to life.”
“Rock of Ages: Teen Edition” will be showing in the Gloucester High School auditorium on Thursday the 9th, at 7:00 p.m., Friday the 10th, at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday the 11th, at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at a discounted price.
“This show has been amazing to be a part of and a totally new experience,” Buckley said, “I can’t wait to perform it for an audience.”
