Tonight, the O’Maley Academy’s Drama Program brings their production of the popular Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants, to the stage. Since September, the cast and crew of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students have worked long and hard to bring this show to life.
The show emerges the audience in a fairytale land, in which they encounter all of their favorite Disney characters. They’ll follow the lives of the teenage children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil, who have lived trapped on the Isle of the Lost along with their parents and all other Disney villains… until now. When they are sent off to a prep school and have to live among the heroes, they will have to make the difficult decision: Do they follow in their parent’s footsteps, or learn to be good?
With the surplus of students involved in the program, the performances will be split up between three casts jammed-packed with talent Cast X, Y, and Z. Each cast will perform twice with a total of six showings over two weekends. Additionally, they will get to entertain the current fifth graders visiting O’Maley on March 6th for a school-day matinee.
All the set builds were created during the additional and optional summer session, adding up to about nine months of a tremendous amount of work being put into this production.
