Baseball

The Gloucester Fishermen baseball team is back and looking to build on one of the program's best seasons in recent memory. Last year's squad went 20-2 and claimed the NEC Championship after an undefeated campaign, but fell to Sandwich in the Round of 16.

After graduating two aces in Brayden Francis and Giacomo Martell, the Fishermen turn to junior star Nico Alves to step in as the Day 1 starter on the mound. Sophomore Pip Emerson, who had a strong JV campaign last spring, is also expected to garner plenty of starts out of the rotation. Brady Ciaramitaro is another arm to watch in the circle.

Captains Lukas Albano, Jaylen Severino, and Trey Marrone headline the Fishermen's veteran core. Nolan Aiello returns at second base, while Austin Bouchie will man the outfield with Severino and Camryn Rodolosi. Junior Cade Francis is set to take over at first base, with Mike Marino at third. Jude Szuter and Nash Marshall round out the infield and outfield mix.

The Fishermen squad has big shoes to fill coming up, but the team is hopeful they'll make another big impact in the NEC. Gloucester opens their 2026 campaign on Friday, April 3 against Salem.

Boys' Lacrosse

The Gloucester Fishermen boys lacrosse team is hoping 2026 is the year they claw back into the D3 playoff picture after another below .500 season last year.

Senior captain and goalkeeper Jaeden Chipperini anchors the defensive end heading into his third year as a starter. The defensive core is further bolstered by senior Joe Gucciardi, along with juniors Finn Schrafft, Connor Oliveira, and Tanner Smith. Junior attack Sam Sanfilippo returns as the team's leading scorer, and he's joined by fellow junior attackman Will Linn. Junior captain Finn Costa and junior Connor Mahoney give the Fishermen a reliable midfield presence, while sophomores Jackson Harnish and Anthony Sanfilippo look to step up.

Gloucester dropped their season opener 8-7 to Bishop Fenwick on March 30, but nearly pulled off the upset and have a tough Thursday matchup against Salem on deck.

Boys' Tennis

The Gloucester Fishermen boys tennis team is coming off a 9-11 season that ended with a Division 3 Round of 32 loss to Martha's Vineyard, and the pieces are in place for a stronger showing in 2026.

The lineup is young but talented, headlined by sophomore standout Shane Widtfeldt at first singles. Sophomore Trey Bushfield slides in at second singles, with captain Julian Nixon holding down third. In doubles, Henry Harrison, James Towne, Ethan Parisi, and Sam Young give the Fishermen reliable depth.

Gloucester opened the season by taking down two-time defending D4 state champion Manchester Essex 3-2 and are set to host defending D3 state champion Bedford on Wednesday in another tough test.

Boys' Track and Field

The boys’ spring track team is going into the season with high expectations to defend their NEC Lynch title.

Captains Jeferson do Carmo, Seamus Linehan, Lyall Cunningham, Gabe Pate, and Leo Cosentino are set to lead the way. With key contributors Gus Hall, Vincent Mannone, and Brendan Smith, the team is slated for another strong season on the track.

After dropping half of their season opener to Danvers, the boys look to bounce back against Winthrop and Masconomet on April 9th.
