In October of 2019 former Disney star Selena Gomez released her heartfelt singles ‘Lose You To Love Me’ and ‘Look at Her Now’ to announce her comeback to the music industry.
Her new songs led to the announcement of her upcoming album titled ‘Rare’ which is set to release on January 10, 2020.
In her singing career thus far, Gomez has released two studio albums. In 2013, only one year after her hit Disney Channel show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ ended, she released her debut album ‘Stars Dance’. The track list had a total of eleven songs, with two singles. This was a turning point in Gomez’s career as she was breaking away from acting and instead pursuing music. She received mixed reviews as people were reluctant to take the young Disney star as a serious artist.
Her second album ‘Revival’ showed her maturity, as both an artist and as an individual. The tracklist consisted of eleven songs, with four leading singles. Gomez poured her heart into this album as a means of communicating the challenges she overcame in the two years before it was released. She went through a breakup with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. She also spent some time in rehab. Both events inspired the songs and lyrics in her album.
Since her second tour in 2016, Gomez has released singles on her own, in collaboration with other artists, and for the Netflix Original show ‘13 Reasons Why’.
It hasn’t yet been confirmed that Gomez will be touring for her third time due to her ongoing health issues. Fans hope that she will tour for ‘Rare’.
