Boys soccer qualifies for playoffs on Senior Night
Gloucester recognizes their 12 graduating players on senior night
On Monday night, the boys soccer team qualified for the Division 3 State Tournament with an impressive win on Senior Night.
Gloucester needed 2 more points to secure a spot in the tournament and they did it with a 3-1 win over Swampscott.
Coach Armando Marnoto decided to change the formation for the first time all season, adding an additional striker while keeping the wing players. This proved to be effective.
Captain Anthony Suazo had a stand-out performance, scoring all three of the goals. Suazo is now at 24 goals this season.
Junior Owen Hardy provided two of these assists to Suazo. He supplied many through balls that gave the attackers a chance to beat the Swampscott defenders with their pace.
Along with Gloucester qualifying for playoffs, they also recognized their 12 seniors. This year’s seniors are Kevin Walsh, Andrea Dimino, Philip Jones, Captain Emmanuel Ishimwe, Richard Jabba, Captain Matteo Ferrara, Captain Daniel de Leon Sesam, Francesco Bongiorno, Felix Esteban, Carlos Martinez, Justin Bushfield, and Captain Anthony Suazo.
Gloucester has three more games left this season. These matches are important as each point they earn will help them get a better seed in the State Tournament.
Their next game is at Newell Stadium against Danvers on Wednesday, October 23rd. They play under the lights with a 6:30 kickoff.
