The GHS Cross Country team faced two divisional opponents and earned their first two wins of the season.

The team raced against the Winthrop Vikings at Stage Fort Park and earned their first victory of the season. Harrison Pelosi won the race with a seasonal best time of 18:14 and Maxwell Littman finished at 18:36. For the girls, Lillie Favazza won the race with a time of 23:53. The final score for the race was a 15-50 win for the boys and tie for the girls.

After their first win, the team ran against the Lynn English Bulldogs. The Fishermen went out strong and did not look back. Harrison Pelosi finished first and posted a time of 18:50. Other strong performances from Maxwell Littman, Nicholas Poulin, and Kyle Clifford helped propel the team to their second consecutive victory of the season.

Captain Cody Clifford believes the team’s training has been displayed in the last two meets of the season and hopes the win streak can continue.

“It’s been great to get verification that we can stand on our own two feet against similarly skilled teams, and hopefully the coming meets will bring us more success.”

The GHS team looks to extend their win streak versus the Lynn Classical Rams on the 16th of October at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester. This will be the team’s last meet before the playoffs season begins.
