As winter sports dive into the new season, the Gloucester High School swim team hopes to outshine their previous year’s record. With more than seven new members, the team is looking forward to the new swim year.
The team is made up of students from Cape Ann including Captain Tracy Wood and Calvin Spencer from Gloucester, and Captain Cecelia Adelphio from Rockport.
“We have a lot of new swimmers and although we graduated numerous seniors, our team is looking really good for the season,” said Wood.
After losing six seniors last year, including former Captain Owen Brown, Gabriella Machado is the only current senior swimmer. “I’m sad this is my last year, but I am so happy that I was able to be part of such a progressing team,” said Machado.
Captain Calvin Spencer says that the team “is bigger than it’s ever been and therefore we’re expecting bigger and better things this season.”
The first meet of the season will be at home on December 12th against Revere at the Cape Ann YMCA in Gloucester.
