Another year has come and gone, as well as another senior class. On Sunday, the graduation for the Class of 2017 was held at the New Balance Field at Newell Stadium.

“They’re a very spirited class,” said class adviser Ms. Carol Finacey, “ they worked hard and raised money to make their class memorable.”

The ceremony opened with senior Josh Skalski singing the National Anthem, and performances by the chorus and The Docksiders was featured throughout the afternoon.

There were many speakers including Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken, Mr. Jonathan Pope, Mr. James W. Cook, Dr. Richard Safier, and others.

Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken gave each graduate a gift to help them in their future endeavors.

“In case you need it, here’s a penny for good luck,” said Romeo Theken with a smile.

Class President Nate Young served as Master of Ceremonies throughout the event, and left the graduates with strong words of wisdom.

“Go over the bridge, see the world, explore new places, and bring a bit of Gloucester with you wherever you go,” said Young.

Valedictorian Samantha Orlando also inspired her peers at the ceremony.

“We must relish in our achievements and remember the hard work,” said Orlando.
