Looking for some exercise but can’t find the free time? Gloucester High School’s walking club has a solution!

The Walking Club meets during both lunches on Mondays and Thursdays, just outside the cafeteria.  A twenty minute stroll around campus earns members gym credit as well as a chance to burn some calories.

“It’s all about getting kids to move and the fresh air is great for them,” explained the founder of the program, Karen Hurst.

This club was founded to give students time to exercise throughout their day, or just a mental break.

As for the winter, Hurst plans to still walk outside as long as the weather allows it. If it is raining or snowing, the club has been given permission to use the indoor track in the Field House.

“Walking club is a great way to relieve stress throughout the day and get some exercise when I have the time,” said sophomore Brandon Smith.
