Girls basketball taken down by Swampscott

The GHS girls basketball team faced a tough loss in their home opener last Thursday against Swampscott. The close game ended with a score of 53-42.
The Fishermen picked up an early lead, heading into the second half with a 30-24 lead over the Big Blue. However, in the fourth quarter, a series of fouls with only minutes to go put Swampscott ahead.
Junior Claire Knowlton led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by senior captain Meagan Manning with 10 points.
The girls team is currently 0-3 after facing two other loses from Marblehead and Saugus. Their first game of the season against Marblehead ended with only a three point loss for the Fisherman. The final score was 44-41.
Now, the team is looking ahead to their next game. The Fisherman will be playing the Ipswich Tigers on Tuesday, December 27 at 5:00pm.
