Field hockey bounces back

Following a rough week for the Fishermen, GHS field hockey has made a comeback in a win against Saugus on Monday night. The 6-0 win has put the team into first place in the Northeast Conference, tied with Marblehead.

In the first half of the game, the first goal was scored by senior Nicole Tocco on a tip in assisted by freshman Cate Delaney. The second, unassisted goal came from junior midfield Taylor Abbott as it ricocheted off the goalpost.

The Fisherman ended the first half of the game with no shots on their own net and went into the second half with a 2-0 lead. From there, the team continued to score.

Four more goals were scored by Cate Delaney, senior Megan Russo, and two from senior captain Rachel Alexander. Russo also had an assist along with senior captain Samantha Cominelli.

Last week, the field hockey team played Marblehead where the game ended in a 1-1 draw. On Thursday, the team experienced its first loss against Danvers with a score of 1-0.

The team will play again tonight in Swampscott at 4pm.
