Jeans for teens: take off your pants for a good cause
March 15, 2016
Student council is trying to collect jeans for teens who are in need, and they need your help. Bring in any new or lightly used jeans to help GHS reach its goal of 200 pairs.
GHS was Inspired by a similar drive at Haverhill High School, which was featured on the news for collecting over 200 pairs of jeans,
Collected jeans will be donated to local people in need.
“It is a very easy charitable way to pay it forward,” said student council and NHS adviser Rayanne Menery.
Whether they are teen or adult jeans, all sizes are welcome. If your parents have pairs of jeans they want to get rid of, you can bring them in. If you have a pair that is tucked away in the corner of your room or in a bag in your basement, bring those in too.
Faculty members are also encouraged to support the cause.
“I think it’s a good idea,” said student council and NHS member Hannah Zuidema. “I’d like to think that a lot of kids will bring in jeans to help reach the goal of 200 pairs.”
If you have a pair of jeans, drop them off this month in Mrs. Menery’s room 1213.

I am familiar with this charity and know it works wonders! If every student where to bring in just one pair of jeans we could easily meet our goal of 200. Most teens, myself included, have multiple pairs of jeans lying around that we say we will donate, but never do. If we were to spread more awareness I believe kids would be motivated to help out and donate to a good cause. I know I’ll be donating!

I think this is a great cause and I believe we can definitely reach our goal of 200 pairs. I know many of us have jeans lying around our house that don’t fit us anymore, or we simply just don’t wear. If we all take part in this amazing cause, we will be able to exceed our goal and change the lives of many who our less fortunate.

This is a moving piece of literature and I will be bringing in a pair of jeans.
