Tonight, the Gloucester Stage Company will bring the popular story of “Legally Blonde the Musical Jr.” to life.
The story originated as a movie in 2001, and was later adapted into a musical in 2007 that will now hit the stage with a talented cast of young actors at the Gloucester Stage Company. This adaptation comes to life through its talented actors, lively dances, and a whole lot of pink.
Composed of students from middle and high school, the cast has been rehearsing every Saturday – with the exception of some Fridays – since late November.

“Its been an amazing experience full of love and laughter,” student Liliana DiMercurio said. “I’ve made so many lifelong bonds with friends.”
Despite a tight schedule, the young cast’s hard work has been successful in bringing this vibrant show to life.
“It’s been really great having these actors have all these light bulb moments,” Director Ts Burnham said. “We’ve been very productive with our time.”
The story follows Elle Woods (played by DiMercurio), a sorority girl who seemingly has it all. After her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting “serious”, Elle is determined to prove him wrong and win him back. After she decides to follow him to Harvard Law School, Elle’s world is turned upside down. Although Harvard is nothing like Malibu, with resilience and help from new friends, Elle is able to prove both her ex, and the world, wrong.
Legally Blonde will be Burnham’s second show directed at Gloucester Stage. She had been in a production of Legally Blonde prior to this, which inspired her to bring the excitement of the musical to Gloucester. In addition to her role as director, Burnham also choreographed all the dance numbers in the show during the few Friday rehearsals they had.
Other members of the directing team include Martina Gallo (Music Director), and Ryan Natcharian (Production Manager). Lexi Thomas heads the production team with costumes, hair and makeup, and photography.

The show is filled with excitement in every scene, and the cast has expressed how the show is just as fun to be in as it is to watch, such as Lillian Jamieson, who plays Paulette Bonafonté.
“It’s all just really energetic and really fun,” Jamieson said. “I’m just so happy to be a part of this show.”
The musical features three GHS students – Scarlett Berge as Vivian Kensington, Nathan Gorman-Melo as Emmett Forrest, and Calla Zerilli as Erin Schultz.
“My favorite part of the show has been to work in such an inclusive and supportive environment,” Gorman-Melo said. “It’s been very fun and uplifting.”
