The Medford Mustangs couldn’t find a way to take down the undefeated Fishermen in a chippy 3-0 Gloucester win.

Abby Lowthers, Halia Taylor, and Jenna Connelly scored for Gloucester while Keagan Jewell had two assists.

The Fishermen outshot Medford big, with the Mustangs only mustering a mere 14 shots compared to Gloucester’s 31. Sydney Bouchie was good on a Gloucester penalty kill, keeping the puck away from goalie Kaydin Cusumano. Cusumano blocked every shot from Medford to secure her first shutout of the season. Jewell, Brooke McNiff, and Ella Costa ran with just 3 defensive players all game, with strong performances by all three of them.

At the Varsity game, it was Cape Ann Youth Hockey Night, where the Mites played for 5 minutes in between the 2nd and 3rd periods. The team “welcome[d] the members of Cape Ann Youth Hockey for a celebration of how it started for a lot of [their] players.” Effie Parsons, a Cape Ann Youth Hockey player, sung the national anthem before puck drop.

The girls are now 3-0 on the young season and play Masconomet Regional in Haverhill. Both teams are undefeated so far and the Fishermen hope to continue blazing through their opponents as they have done in the past three games. Puck drops at 8:05 at the Haverhill Valley Forum.
