Last night, the girls soccer team faced off against Triton Regional. The game was intense and Gloucester fought hard for a win. The Fishermen finished the game 2-1 over Triton. This win sets Gloucester’s record at 5-9-2, with one game to go in the season.

Gloucester came ready to play and started the game off strong. The team dominated the play and had an excellent first half. Sophomore Tyia Mano had many runs and shots on the net. The defense and mid-field did a great job preventing the Triton offense from any potential goals. Sophomore Ava Paone had a terrific goal to finish off this great half. The half finished with Gloucester up 1-0.

The Fishermen carried this electric energy into the second half. They came ready to hold off the Triton offense and extend their own lead. Paone let another one rip to the back of the net. The game got aggressive and the two teams fought hard for the ball. Triton scored off a PK. Senior Captian Maggie Sperry had an exceptional night in the net. With the score 2-1, the last five minutes of the game were intense, but Gloucester held strong.

This was one of the best games that the Fishermen played. The entire team worked great together, and the Fishermen were beyond happy to get this win.

Gloucester will face off against Beverly High School tonight at 4:30, at home. This game will wrap up the Fishermen’s season.
