GHS to welcome back fans
January 18, 2022
After a brief hiatus, GHS Athletics will welcome back spectators to sporting events in the field house and the Dorothy Talbot rink.
This morning, GHS athletic director Bryan Lafata addressed the school community in an email, stating spectators can return provided they are masked at all times.
In order to keep the atmosphere fun and engaging with a student section, students must strictly follow mask requirements.
Due to skyrocketing Omicron infections prior and during Christmas break, the GHS athletics department limited spectators to immediate household members only, and the atmosphere at games was much different.
“Without fans, we had no energy and momentum on the ice”, said senior hockey captain Daniel O’Leary.
GHS Girls Basketball plays 1/18 at home and the boys 1/19 at home. Boys hockey faces off against Danvers at home on Saturday.
“The fans give us an extra boost,” said O’Leary. “I can’t wait to see the tank absolutely packed.”
