Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrating what you are thankful for and appreciating what you have. While some may be enjoying a feast of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy, there are those in need of a meal for their family. Donating food can help give these families.
Every year Gloucester High School helps out The Open Door with a Thanksgiving Food Drive. Students and teachers are encouraged to donate non-perishable food for the families who may not be able to afford it themselves.
Items such as peanut butter, pasta, cereal, canned goods like fruit and vegetables, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, and rice can be brought to the atrium where there are drop-off boxes.
In addition to the food drives, GHS is also collecting donations for Holiday Baskets filled with items for a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey. For thirty dollars the baskets are able to feed a deserving local family. Money can be brought to room 1213, Ms. Menery-Sammataro room.
Even if you can only give something small, it will be appreciated by someone who needs it.
