GHS track dominates with strong win over Salem

This week, GHS Track and Field continued to dominate with strong wins against Saugus. Both teams walked away with wins, with a boys score of 105-25 and girls 77-36. 

Individual performances helped the Fishermen cruise past the Sachems. First place finishes from Mike Moffet in the 400m hurdles (68.7), Eli Heanue in the 2 mile (11:39), Luke Walkama in shotput and discus (36’4”) (111’11”), Luke Smith in the 200m and javelin (25.1) (117’7’’), Nick Poulin in the mile (5:00), Trevor Fulford in the 110m hurdles (22.7), Colby Rochford in the 400m (58.4), Will Kenny in the 800m (2.00.9), the 4x100m relay of Kayky Barbosa, Smith, Moffet, and Thomas Steriti (49.4), and the 4x400m relay team of Fulford, Owen Hardy, Logan Patrick, and James Wendell (3:58.7), all helped the boys earn their third straight win of the season.

On the girls side, wins were as followed: Ella Young in the 110m hurdles and high jump (22.4) (4’8”), Sarah Baker in the 400m hurdles and javelin (1:29.5) (70’4”), Kendall Newton in discus (60’1”), Darcy Muller in the 100m and long jump (13.5) (15’6”), Mackay Brooks in the mile (6:02), Caelie Patrick in the 800m (2:30), the 4x100m relay of Jenna Smith, Baker, Elorie Willwerth, Madison Lawler (58.6), and the 4x400m relay of Muller, Patrick, Lawler, and Rumi Thomas (4:49.9). 

The Fishermen look toward their biggest challenge yet next Wednesday versus Beverly in what will be one of the closest meets this season.
