GEF to host 5th annual Power of Play festival
March 5, 2020
For those looking for a less lazy Sunday, the Gloucester Education Foundation will host its 5th annual Power of Play festival on Sunday, March 22 at GHS.
The Power of Play event can be a fun thing to do for any age. The festival includes stations filled with fun arts and crafts, cool games, obstacle courses, and many other great activities for kids to do.
“It is unstructured play to step away from technology and be hands on,” said GEF’s Executive Director Aria McElhenny. “It helps kids to be creative thinkers and helps with skills they need for life.”
“It is about having fun, but it is also about giving kids and families opportunities to use their freetime differently than organized sports and classes,” she said. “All of these things are helping people develop skills and learn how to work together through those activities.”
The Gloucester Education foundation has been around for about 12 years now. “It was started by local parents with the goal of making the Gloucester Public School district the best it could be” says McElhenny. The GEF has done amazing work for the local schools and are proud to continue putting on this event.
Make sure you stop by the Power of Play festival on the 22nd and have some fun!
