A new year has finally arrived, which means yet again, addicting trends will be surfacing yet again. Although they are called trends for a reason, what happened last year should stay in last year.

Here are some trends that need to stay in 2017.

1. Fidget Spinners

Don’t even get me started on these gadgets. They are super unnecessary and could be seen almost everywhere in 2017. Walking in the mall? There’s someone spinning one to your left. Driving? There’s a driver using one of these right next to you. They are nothing but distracting, let’s try to be more present this year.

2. Unicorn…everything

Almost every girl you know was obsessed with unicorn nails, beauty products, and even phone accessories at some point last year. Although the unicorn aesthetic was cool at first, it has been well overused and overhyped. We’ve all had our fair share of unicorn fun, but it needs to be put to rest, once and for all.

3. Weird eyebrow makeup

Everywhere you look on social media, you could see some new crazy “hack” involving eyebrows. No, your eyebrows are not supposed to be turned into Christmas trees, waves, or even feathers. Let’s stop messing with our eyebrows in 2018, they might fall out if we don’t.

4. Millennial pink

Although this color is super adorable, it is time to say goodbye. If you scrolled through your tumblr feed or even just opened the internet in general, all you could see was this color. There has been one too many nail polish shades, bedroom decor, and clothing created in the color pink. It’s time to finally move on to purple.

5. The Floss dance

We all know that boy in Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” video who went viral for his extremely boring dance skills, which has been dubbed as ‘The Floss Dance.’ You probably caught your friends doing this hilarious dance at some point or another in 2017.

There are a bunch of trends that need to be left behind so we can start this year fresh.  This means there are new trends on the rise that will make an appearance in 2018. To hop on the bandwagon this year, here are some trends you can start giving in to because they will become “trendy” eventually.

1. Over-sized dresses

Not only is this a comfy outfit to wear, it is also super cute. Closer to the spring, you will probably be seeing these more often because they will be in style.

2. Social media

Social media isn’t going anywhere any time soon. If you’re not on the Snapchat or Facebook bandwagon, now would probably be a good time to hop on. Better late than never, my friend.

3. Glitter everything

Glitter can always be seen around the music festival season. But this year, it will probably be appearing way more often than just in the summertime. Not only will it be seen in the fashion scene, it will also be seen in the makeup industry, as well.

4. Scrunchies will make a comeback

Just like always, scrunchies seem to keep coming in and out of the trend. But recently, you can see girls sporting them in their hair and also around their wrists as cute accessories.

5. Wide-brim hats

Ladies, it’s time to put your Tumblr aesthetic “dad” hats away because wide-brim hats are going to make a reappearance this spring / summer season.
