Looking for something to do to keep you warm during the winter? Auditions for the GHS Theatre Program’s spring show “Once Upon A Mattress” will be happening from December 5th to the 8th.

“Once Upon A Mattress,” which is a take on the fairy tale “Princess and the Pea,” monologue and singing auditions will be on Tuesday, December 5th, and Wednesday, December 6th. These auditions will be from 2:30 to 4:45. For this audition, you will need to have a one minute contemporary comedic monologue prepared, and your song has to be 16-32 bars long (about a minute long).

On Thursday, there will be movement auditions, where you’ll be taught a dance and have to perform it. Callbacks will be posted that night, and if your name is on the list you will have to go to callbacks on Friday, December 8th from 2:30 to 4:45.

If you are interested in being a part of the GHS Theatre Program, there will be a mandatory informative meeting for both actors and techies to learn about the Theater Program and any paperwork needed on Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30PM. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the student. This meeting will also provide all the information you need to be in the program, about upcoming events, and will talk about attendance and grade policy.

If you would like to participate but do not want to act, there is the option to be in the tech crew.

Techies help build the set and help with the other technical aspects of the show. There is a tech day once a week, and is usually from 2:30 to 6:00.

You will not have to show up to the auditions if you are interested in being a part of the tech crew, but you will need to show up to the mandatory meeting on January 10th. You also need to go to https://gloucesterhighdrama.blogspot.com/ to sign up. You are not required to show up to every tech day, but you should go to as many as you are able to.
