The Gloucester/Rockport Fishermen girls ice hockey team brought home its first victory after playing its first in-season game against Groton on Saturday.

The Fishermen held possession of the puck through the majority of the game. When the puck went out of the zone, the girls worked hard to quickly return the puck to Groton’s defensive zone and shoot on net.

“The hard work and dedication with the girls in practice was noticed in the game,” said head coach Brittany Devlin.

This group of girls brought the program back with a final score of 5-1, with goals scored by Rachel Alexander, Nicole, Tocco, Lizzie Luster, Bailey Marshall, and Jesse Alexander.

The team has been working hard to improve their skills all season long.

“I am proud of the Fishermen girls ice hockey team,” said Devlin. “The girls came out strong and fearless. I could not have asked for a better group of hockey players to bring this program with.”

The team’s home opener at Dorothy Talbot Rink will be held Wednesday, December 14th at 4:30pm.
