Docksiders reel in full house
November 2, 2015
The Docksiders and Gloucester High School chorus left audience members impressed and excited by their latest performance. Last friday in the school cafeteria, the band and chorus held a coffeehouse for parents, students, and members of the community.
“The band and chorus rocked their coffeehouse,” said Caroline Enos, who went to the event. “I’m proud to say our music department is so talented and respected within the community.”
With a full house, the Docksiders kicked off the night with “Soul Man,” which knocked the audience off their feet. “Witchcraft,” “In the Mood”, “Jump, Jive an’ Wail,” and “Killer on the Keys” were a few of the songs that followed. Featured soloist Alexandra Grace sang with the band during “Blue Moon.”
“It was an altogether fun time and was a good sign for the band’s future” said Christian Celentano, who is a trumpet player in the Docksiders.
Instrumental soloists included Christian Celentano and Robbie Strescino on the trumpet, Lukas Struppe on the trombone, Jett Sayess on the keyboard, Kayleigh Crabb on the tenor saxophone and Owen Brown on the saxophone.
Halfway through the show, the band took a break and the chorus made an appearance. They performed songs such as “And So It Goes,” “Sunday in the Park,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Music of the Night,” and “Beyond the Sea.”
“The coffeehouse went well,” said chorus member Kayla Saltonstall. “Many people showed up and it was a huge success.”
The audience enjoyed tasty Halloween treats throughout the night, which added to the “spooky” vibe of the cafeteria. Tables and walls were adorned with Halloween decorations as the band and chorus performed songs that corresponded with the holiday theme.
