GDT report causes concern
October 9, 2015
According to GHS Principal Erik Anderson, a Gloucester Daily Times report that a student brought a “gun or (other) weapon” to school on Wednesday was misleading.
“There was not a gun, or any type of firearm whatsoever,” said Anderson.
The Times reported that there was a call made to the Gloucester Police Department at 12:02pm, however that was the time when the Student Resource Officer submitted the police report.
“No officers responded,” said Anderson in an email to staff. “The student had been released into the custody of parent/guardian well before that time…at no time was there a cause for alarm or an immediate threat posed to anyone at GHS.”
Anderson confirmed that a student had a weapon, but would not comment on the specifics.
