Mixed 4×400 relay leads track team at Northeast Invitational

Last weekend, the Fisherman Track and Field team competed in the MSTCA Northeast Invitational. 

The team brought 32 runners to compete against the 136 teams. The meet was three days long, but the Fishermen only participated on the first and third days. 

The team’s highlight of the weekend was the mixed 4×400-meter relay, which set the school record at 3:57.4 and consisted of Dylan Smith, Grace Castellucci, Dylan Rochford, and Skye Ciolino. 

The girl’s team was led by Hope Castellucci, who placed 19th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:38.20 and 19th in the triple jump with a jump of 27-08 feet. The short medley relay consisted of Maddie Goodhue, G. Castellucci, Maddie Jewell, and Ciolino, who placed 7th. The distance medley relay consisted of Ruby McElhenny, Caitie Dewan, Georgana Cauthers and H. Castellucci, who placed 7th. Jewell placed 36th in the 200 meters with a time of 28.4 seconds. Julia Palk placed 44th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:10. 51. For field events, Aleena Brown placed 45th in the shot put with a throw of 25-06.25, and Lauren Sargent placed 13th in the weight throw with a throw of 27-00. 

Rochford lead the way for the boys, placing 36th in the 55-meter dash and the 4×400-meter relay. Aidan Woods ran the 400 meters in 57.85 seconds and placed 43rd. Jeferson DoCarmo placed 39th in the 800 meters at 2:11.30 minutes. Lyall Cunningham placed 53rd in the mile with a time of 4:54.74 minutes.

For field events, Matthew Smith placed 35th for shot put with a throw of  39-03.25 feet, and Seamus Linehan placed 12th in triple jump with a jump of 38-06.25 feet. 

The Fisherman also had a B-team 4×400 meter relay that consisted of Woods, H. Castellucci, DoCarmo, and Jewell who placed 9th.
