“Mmmbeth” and “Hamlette” make their way to GHS
September 11, 2018
Looking for something to do this fall? Enjoy reading “Macbeth” or “Hamlet”, or look forward to reading them in English? This Fall, the theater program will be putting on a production of “Mmmbeth” and “Hamlette”.
“Mmmbeth” and “Hamlette” are spoofs of the classic shakespearean plays “Macbeth” and “Hamlet”. This’ll be a comedic take on the shows, in modern English. “Mmmbeth” will be one act and “Hamlette” will be the other act. Students will only be put in one cast, and in the show they are not in they will be in the tech crew.
If you’re looking to audition for the shows, you’ll have to go to the Theater program’s website (https://gloucesterhighdrama.blogspot.com/) and sign out a slot. To prepare for the audition you will need a 1 minute long contemporary comedic monologue. There are slots for September 12th and 13th. There also will be a mandatory workshop with the Boston Theatre Company on September 11th at 2:30.
The call back list will be posted on the blogspot on Thursday night, and call backs will be on friday.
If you are interested in being a part of the Theater program, Wednesday at 6:00PM there will be a mandatory informative meeting for both actors and the tech crew to learn about the Theater program and any paperwork needed, but a parent must accompany the student. This meeting will provide the paperwork you need and information on the productions. If you know that you won’t be able to attend, but still would like to be a part of the program, contact Ms. Ruggles as soon as you can.
If you want to be in the show but you don’t enjoy acting, you can be a part of the tech crew. The tech crew builds the set and helps move set pieces behind the scene during the production. The tech crew meets once a week in the auditorium from 2:30 to 6. You will not have to show up to the auditions but you will need to show up to the mandatory meeting on Wednesday of this week. You also need to go to https://gloucesterhighdrama.blogspot.com/ to sign up.
If you have any questions, contact Jessica Ruggles at [email protected] or stop in to room 1209.
