New batch of students awarded Sawyer Medal

Nineteen students were named recipients of the Sawyer Medal on November 15th. The top ten students of the freshman class and top five students of the sophomore class receive this award, as well the top boy and girl of the junior and senior class also receive this award.
This award is given to those who expressed hard work and earned the best grades in their class during the previous year.
The Sawyer Medal got its name from Samuel Elwell Sawyer, a gentleman who believed in giving back in every way possible. In his lifetime, he devoted much of his time to supporting the schools and the entirety of Gloucester. His was also honored in the naming of the Sawyer Free Library.
The top two students of the senior class were presented with other awards during this ceremony. Caroline King was awarded the College Women’s Club of Cape Ann Award. Meghan Craaybeek was awarded the Harvard Prize Book, and the Letter of Commendation for outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT in 2016. Craaybeek and King were also awarded the Certificate of Academic Excellence from the MA Association of School Superintendents

2021: Mila Barry, Cara Buchanan, Tessa Bushfield, Owen Hardy, Olivia LoJacono, Marissa Mondello, Cameron Muniz, Dylan Orlando, Ava Sheedy, Autumn-Marie Silva.
2020: Katherine Bevins, Lila Hawks, Matthew Johnson, Molly McAreavery, Gracianna O’Toole.
2019: Delaney Benchoff and Jack Bergin.
2018: Luke Mackert and Kaitlin Marques.
