The GHS Art Club is hosting a silent auction to support their trip to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Student art is on sale now in the library. Bidding starts at $5.00, and this month’s auction will end on Halloween.

“We want to get back to New York City and see some really great artwork,” said GHS Art teacher and club leader Lorrinda Cerrutti.

This year, the Art Club will use some of the money earned through the auction for supplies for artwork. These supplies are used to put more artwork around the building, like the lighthouse in the atrium. Most of the money, however, will be put toward and the trip to New York.

“We took all of the members of art club and they decided amongst themselves to split into two groups and each group is responsible for every other month,” said Cerrutti. “This way everyone has an opportunity to contribute.”

These groups of students produce anything from drawings to paintings, and whatever is turned in is put up for auction.

“I just want to encourage students to bid on the work,” said Cerrutti, “since in years past it’s only been faculty.”

Students interested in bidding can find more information on Cerrutti’s Instagram artroom3111.
