Students honored at JROTC awards night

JROTC students from every grade received awards for their hard work and dedication on June 3rd in front students, parents, and community leaders.
“I think it went amazingly well. Many of the Cadets were motivated and I felt inspired by their dedication,” said new Commanding Officer Soo Ae Ono.
“We want to be the best we can be in everything we do,” said Chief Warrant Officer 3 and Senior Marine Instructor Richard Muth.
Freshman Jacob Russell was one of the award recipients of the night. He won the Sons of American Revolution award, Physical Fitness award, and the American Legion award.
“I don’t take winning as being above other people,” said Russell. “It’s nice to have your friends congratulate you and have people look up to you.”
Along with the awards that were delivered, three students were announced as the programs highest ranking students. The new Commanding Officer is Soo Ae Ono, the Executive Officer is Belle Muller, and the Operations Officer is Samantha Gross.
“I know it’s going to be a really big responsibility but I look forward to JROTC continuing to prosper in the future and in the many years to come,” said Ono.
“Being the Executive Officer has always been a dream of mine,” said Belle Muller.
This coming fall, new opportunities will be available for JROTC students, including Drill and Leadership Class, that will available to any GHS students that are interested in taking it.
