The track team had a successful weekend at last weekend’s Division 4 State Championship meet. Eight athletes took home medals. The girls placed 13th, and the boys placed 30th.
For the girls, Aili Spencer was the star of the individual events. Spencer took 1st in the long jump with a school record of 19 feet, qualifying herself for the MIAA Meet of Champions. Megan Hurd took 5th in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump.
The girls’ 4×100 of Hurd (13.4), Spencer (13.0), Tess Taylor (12.8), and Grace Castellucci (12.4), took 5th overall with a new school record of 51.6 seconds. The girls’ 4×400 Hope Castellucci, Cia Donohoe, G.Castellucci, and Skye Ciolino took 15th.
The boy’s top performer was Seamus Linehan, who ran the 400-meter hurdles with a new personal best of 59.7 seconds. The sophomore placed 8th overall. Jefferson DoCarmo was not far behind, taking 9th with a personal best of 59.92 seconds.
The boys’ 4×400 team, of DoCarmo, Dylan Smith, Vincent Mannone, and Linehan, took 8th place overall.
