The Fisherman Track and Field team put up good numbers in the NEC Spring Challenge against strong competition.
The Fishermen went head-to-head with a large Peabody team, where the girls lost 103-43 and the boys lost 121-25. Although they were not directly against the other teams, both teams still put up good numbers in their races.
The girls’ side standout was Grace Castellucci, placing fifth overall in the 100-meter dash with a personal record of 13.4 seconds to beat all the Peabody girls. She also placed 1st in the 4x200m, 11th in the long jump, and 17th in the triple jump. The girls’ 4×800 (Hope Castellucci, Cia Donahue, Georgiana Cauthers, and Skye Ciolino) and the 4×200 (Tess Taylor, Caroline Eliassen, Ciolino, and G. Castellucci) both placed 1st. Megan Hurd placed 1st in the triple jump and 10th in the shot put.
Lyall Cunningham was the standout on the boys’ side was. He placed 5th in the mile with a season best of 4:59 and 3rd in the 4×800. Dylan Smith placed 10th in the 200m, Sam Heanue took 6th in discus, and milers Jefferson DoCarmo took 7th alongside teammate Henry Stevens, who followed close behind in 8th.
Both teams are undefeated in the NEC Lynch Division, while they drop to 4-1 (girls) and 3-2 (boys).
