Aleena Brown - Softball
POTW Accolades: 1
Gloucester sophomore Aleena Brown is making up for lost time, emerging as a key bat in the heart of the order and helping power the Fishermen to a flawless 9-0 start.
After failing to crack into the starting lineup in her freshman campaign, Brown has emerged as one of Gloucester’s strongest hitters this season.
This week alone, Brown has boasted a .500 batting average in three straight games. The sophomore proved to be a game shifter when the Fishermen hosted Georgetown, one of the toughest opponents in their schedule. Brown went 2-2 with two singles. Alongside that, the sophomore layed down a key sacrifice bunt to score the first run of the game. In Gloucester’s 3-win week, Brown had 4 hits, 4 RBI, and 2 runs.
The designated hitter is versatile at the plate, combining power with decisive small ball action. Currently, the sophomore has a batting average of .286, an OBP of .400, a SLG of .429, and an OPS of .429. She’s third in RBI (8) and QAB%.
The designated hitter was also selected as a Gloucester Times Player of the Week.
Brown looks to continue her contributions in the center of the Fishermen lineup throughout the season.
