The Fishermen Track and Field team started the season with a win against Saugus for both the girls and boys. The girls beat Danvers and the boys lost,
In the Lynch Division, the girls beat Saugus 82-45. The team pulled a surprising win over Danvers with a score of 74-57. The boys’ team pulled a win out against Saugus with a score of 93-37. However, they couldn’t beat a tough Danvers team.
Girls’ Track and Field
One school record was broken, and six runners qualified for states. Cia Donohoe qualified in the 400-meter hurdles, while Aili Spencer qualified in the 200-meter and long jump. Spencer also broke the school record in the long jump, one she set last season. Megan Hurd qualified in the triple jump, and Skye Ciolino qualified in the 400 meters.
The girls’ 4×100 meters of Megan Hurd, Aili Spencer, Grace Castellucci, and Tess Taylor also ran a state-qualifying time.
Hope Castellucci placed first against Danvers in the High Jump and first against Saugus in the mile. Lauren Sargent placed first in shotput and discus. Taylor placed first in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the long jump. The girls 4×400 meter relay of H.Castellucci, Georgiana Cauthers, Isabella Donnellan Valade, and Donohoe placed first.
Boys’ Track and Field
The boys’ team had many successes, helping them to their win against Saugus. The top scorer of the meet was Seamus Linehan, who placed first in the 400-meter hurdles and first in the triple jump. Sam Heanue placed first in the shot-put and 110-meter hurdles. Dylan Smith placed first in the 200-meter. Jeferson DoCarmo placed first in the 400-meter. Henry Stevens in the 2-mile. Lyall Cunningham placed first in the one mile.
