The Gloucester Girls’ Lacrosse team kicked off the season with a tough loss this Wednesday. The Fisherman fell 15-2 to the North Reading Hornets.
Gloucester came out strong, with senior Skye Berry winning the first draw of the game and scoring in the first play. The Hornets came back and started racking up points, but Gloucester kept playing hard.
Sophomore goalie Gabby Martell made 10 saves, and sophomore Natasha DePaul had a great game defensively. Fiona Black also had a great game in the midfield and offense.
At the beginning of the second half, Meadow Anderson won a ground ball and passed it to Freshman Kaya Collins, who ran towards the goal and scored.
“I thought we all did so good, and we tried our best,” Sophomore Giselle Ferriera said. “I am super excited for this season; I think we will get a lot better.”
Despite the tough game, Gloucester kept their heads high and practiced good sportsmanship.
