The Gloucester girls soccer team ended their season with a tie and a loss.
Gloucester had a strong game against Bishop Fenwick. Both teams were equal in skill and the score of 3-3 exhibited that.
Jordan Macchi scored right off the bat off a pass from Skye Ciolino. By the end of the first half, the score was 3-1 Fenwick with three back to back goals by Fenwick.
Two minutes into the second half, Eve Liacos took a corner kick and curved the ball into the top corner. With ten minutes left in the game, Taiya Mano scored the equalizer off an assist by Eve Liacos.
Gloucester’s defense had a strong game and welcomed Maggie Deckert back on the field after an injury.
“I think we all played really well,” Eve Liacos said. “It was a very important win for the team.”
Gloucester had a tough game the following week in their final game against the Manchester Essex Hornets. The final score was 0-3.
The game was very even with the score 0-0 at the half. Gloucsters defense, Hope Castellucci, Maggie Deckert, Jude Friday and Mailee Lusk controlled the ball and limited shots. Gloucester goalie Jessica Harvey also performed well. By the end of the game, the score was 0-3 with the Hornets scoring three goals back to back. The seniors left everything on the field for Gloucester for the last time.
“I think we all played really well and after Manchester scored a goal, we all got really cold and tired and kind of fell apart a little bit,” Eve Liacos said, “ It was a really good last game and I think it was bittersweet for all the seniors.”
