On Friday night the Gloucester Fisherman beat the Salem Witches 2-1. This is Gloucester’s first win after a rough start to the season with their first two games ending in losses.
Gloucester’s first goal was scored in the first five minutes of the game by Ava Paone with an assist from Tayia Mano. The second one was scored at the end of the first half by Tayi Mano with an assist from Ava Paone.
Gloucester’s defense was the best all year with more than twenty saved shots to the net by Jessica Harvey. In the last minute of the game Salem scored.
“I am very excited about our first win,” head Coach Katrina Tibbets said. “We play Swampscott on Monday which should be a good game. Shout out to our exceptional sweeper Hope Castellucci, Abby Desmond who played right back, Ava and Tayia who scored our two goals, and meadow who did great distributing the ball.”
Next game is Monday vs. Swampscott at 4:30 at Newell Stadium.
