GHS boys tennis finished their match yesterday with a 5-0 win over the Winthrop Vikings. The team dominated the game, so it was a quick and easy win for them. Their record is now 11-4.

“Winthrop was a little over-matched today, so the scores reflect that,” Head Coach Derek Geary said. “I thought they were a good team though, and had nice sportsmanship.”

Junior Andry Payano Sosa played first singles and won his match with a score of 6-0 and 6-0. Second singles was played by junior Anders Littman, who also won his match and received a score of 6-0 and 6-1. To wrap up the single matches junior Luke McElhenny won and had a score of 6-1 and 6-1.

Both doubles won their matches. The first doubles was played by senior captain Drew White and junior Dom Paone, they received a score of 6-2 and 6-0. In a slightly more difficult match, juniors Cam Widtfeldt and Cole Ciolino won the second doubles match, with a score of 6-3 and 6-3.

Overall it was a good day for the Fishermen. Gloucester will be looking for another win tomorrow, Wednesday the 17th. They will be home against Swampscott at 4:00 pm.
