Salem took the early lead in the fifth set, but junior Izzy Tarantino brought Gloucester back and served what would lead to the game-winning point, with the score of 15-12.
The final score of the match was 3-2 for Gloucester.
Some standout players on the court helped lead the Fishermen to the win. Junior Kadijah Kaba served nine aces and got two kills. Fernandes served five aces and got two kills. Senior Desiré Demino served five aces and had eight digs. Freshman Isabella Soundis got eight kills. Captain Jocelyn Maddalena hit eight kills and served two aces.
“We were able to win because of all the hard work and dedication [that was] put into practice,” Maddalena said. “We really locked in and just became one team.”
