The Gloucester girls lacrosse team fell to Swampscott 16-1, dropping the Fishermen’s record to 0-5.
In the middle of the first quarter, Skye Berry scored Gloucester’s only goal. The senior captain took it down the field from the half.
Despite their first half struggles, the Fishermen came back strong and held the score close.
The game was a tough, defensive game, and Natasha DePaula played a great game holding down the defense.
Gloucester only managed three shots during the game, two from Skye Berry and one from Meadow Anderson. Gloucester’s goalie Gabriella Martell made 14 saves.
“Swampscott was a very tough game, but we played very well,” Junior Sophia Ferrara said, “Even the Swampscott coaches said we stuck with the positive attitude throughout the whole entire game.”
The Fishermen have a game in Winthrop today at 4:30.
“Hopefully, we can change our record and get our first win,” Julia Palk said.
