The smooth sound of jazz will fill the Gloucester High Auditorium this Thursday as students and local musicians come together for a powerful cause: raising money to support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, founded in 1962, is one of the world’s leading pediatric treatment and research facilities. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food because the hospital believes all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Events like Jazz for a Cure help make that mission possible.
The exciting event invites the Gloucester community to take a stand against cancer through an evening of music and generosity. Admission is by donation at the door, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to the hospital’s mission to treat and defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Gloucester High Junior, Esme Sarrouf, has been in charge of planning and organizing the annual event since her freshman year. For the past two years she has been doing it alone, yet during freshman year she co-ran it with her older brother Elijah Sarrouf and good friend Tyler Weed. Dedicated to this amazing event for the past three years, she hopes to use music to make an impact.
“The goal of this event is to raise both money and awareness of childhood cancer,” Sarrouf said. “It should be a fun night to look forward to.”
The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Gloucester High School, promising a night of inspiring performances, community spirit, and a shared commitment to a better future for children battling cancer.
