As the winter season ends and spring is just around the corner, 9 Fishermen Track and Field athletes will race for the last time at Nike Indoor Nationals. The team will travel to The Armory Track in New York City to compete from Thursday until Sunday.
The girls’ sprint medley relay of senior captain Aili Spencer (200 meters), junior Maddie Jewell (200 meters), sophomore Grace Castellucci (400 meters), and junior Hope Castellucci (800 meters) will compete on Friday at 7:23 pm in the emerging elite division.
The biggest surprise was the mixed 4×400-meter team, which had previously been rejected. Early last week, the team got confirmation that they were accepted into the championship division. The team will consist of sophomore Seamus Linehan, G. Castellucci, junior Dylan Rochford, and senior captain Skye Ciolino. They will compete at 7:19 p.m. on Thursday.
Individuals that will compete for the Fishermen are Spencer in the long jump on Sunday morning at 9:30. At middle school nationals, Samantha Tucker will be in the 60-meter dash on Friday at 9:52 am and long jump. Fellow eighth grader Adeline Wood will do the long jump at noon on Friday.
