America’s oldest seaport, the City of Gloucester, is known throughout the world as an authentic, working waterfront community, a place of spectacular natural beauty, and home to a diverse population of approximately 30,000 residents. Its sharp focus on economic development has helped build its reputation as the ideal location to live, work, and play. An important center for the fishing industry, Gloucester is also proud of its vibrant cultural life and rich art heritage. Gloucester is a destination for thousands of visitors who visit the harbor and its beaches during the summer months.
The City of Gloucester is in the final stages of developing its Comprehensive Plan, a visionary roadmap that will guide the city’s growth and evolution over the next decade. To ensure the plan reflects the priorities of residents, businesses, and stakeholders, the city has launched a new community survey, inviting public input on key goals identified in the draft plan.
“We want to hear from all demographics within our community – our seniors, students, young families and more.” said Mayor Greg Verga. “I want this plan to reflect the needs and vision of our community – this is our plan and we need your input to ensure it represents the city for years to come.”
The Comprehensive Plan serves as a framework for local decision-makers, focusing on Gloucester’s physical, economic, and social future. Community participation is essential in refining these goals and prioritizing the strategies for implementation.
Residents are encouraged to take the survey and have a direct impact on the city’s future. The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/GloucesterCPGoalPriorities and will remain open until March 21, 2025.
