This year, the Interact Club is bringing back its holiday party at Pathways for children from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th.
The Interact Club is a nonprofit run by high school students who fundraise for various charities and engage with the community.
“Here at interact, we strive to cultivate a welcoming community in Gloucester,” the club’s Co- President Julia Carrancho said. “We are excited to support the youth of our city with stimulating games, crafts, and diverse activities.”
This event will include festive activities such as face painting, cookie decorating, ornament making, reindeer games, letters to Santa, and more. Food will be provided by the Open Door.
“It’s really just for the kids to come and get in the Christmas spirit,” Interact Club Co-President Dylan Smith said. “I think it’s a really good event for our community and everyone’s going to have a good time.
The Interact Club will need about 30-40 volunteers for the event, which will include not only members, but anyone who is interested. National Honors Society members will also volunteer at the event.
Although the event hasn’t run since 2019, the club officers and its advisers, Christine Simmons and Serena Lowe, are putting in extra work to make it run smoothly.
“Before we’ve had around 80-100 kids show up,” Smith said. “It’s good to bring back because [the event] helps out our club in general.” He hopes the event raises visibility for the GHS Interact Club and showcases its service to the community.
